Ramblings, Sentiments, Rantings and Musings

I am a mother of 5 wonderful children and wife to one amazing Navy man. I am always changing things in my life, constantly learning something new and trying it out. I am a wannabe vegan, minimalist and currently living full time in an RV. Just for clarification, I say wannabe, because I know I am not perfect, but each day I strive to do the best I can. That's all I can expect from anyone no matter where they are in life. I learn something new everyday...mostly about myself and my little corner of reality. Life, to me, is loving, learning and making memories. These are better than all the tangible riches one can get their hands on! Besides, there will come a day when all I have left is my love and memories...so I'll stockpile as much of those as I can!
War of the pinecones!

Today was your average trip to the park. We had 4 of the 5 kiddos with us, all the girls. Our visit seemed fairly normal you know like climbing on the play ground equipment, swinging on the swings and then... they spotted the pine cones all over the ground. Not the cute little pine cones mind you. These bad boys were the grown up version! These were the kind that seemed to scream "throw me at someone really hard, come on it's fun". These pine cones were the kind that when one was nailed by it, it felt like it came out of a cannon. These are the pine cones that my darling girl children decided that would make great ammunition in war with dad! And the battle was on.

It all began when dad started aggravating P, well then of course another sibling (M) had to defend her. B and I sat watching and laughing at the chase that ensued. A few short minutes later B just couldn't stand not getting in on the action, so the war of the pine cones began. The game lasted I think for at least 45 minutes! 45 minutes, can you believe that!!! I am in awe of the stamina of my seemingly very agile spouse who sent just as much ammo flying as the girls did. Who knew?

I wish I had my camera, but somehow something was wrong with my memory stick. So I only have it now in my memory, but memories are great just as well.

Just as the pine cone war was drawing to a close, we remembered that we were going out to dinner. So we hurried home to get ready, and for some that had to get showers after the war. As we got to the restaurant B noted what a nice people were in the place regardless of how super crowded it was. She said Mama, there are nice people all around us. Then she told me about all the nice people sitting around us and that the waitress, who was super tired, was really nice and patient as well.

I am so glad that she was looking for the good in everything that night. It doesn't always happen that way but last night it did, and in the end we were all grateful and had a great time. What a great ending to a wonderful day!

Famous Quotes

"I am beginning to suspect all elaborate and special systems of education. They seem to me to be built upon the supposition that every child is a kind of idiot who must be taught to think. Whereas, if the child is left to himself, he will think more and better, if less showily. Let him go and come freely, let him touch real things and combine his impressions for himself, instead of sitting indoors at a little round table, while a sweet-voiced teacher suggests that he build a stone wall with his wooden blocks, or make a rainbow out of strips of coloured paper, or plant straw trees in bead flower-pots. Such teaching fills the mind with artificial associations that must be got rid of, before the child can develop independent ideas out of actual experience." -- Anne Sullivan
