Ramblings, Sentiments, Rantings and Musings

I am a mother of 5 wonderful children and wife to one amazing Navy man. I am always changing things in my life, constantly learning something new and trying it out. I am a wannabe vegan, minimalist and currently living full time in an RV. Just for clarification, I say wannabe, because I know I am not perfect, but each day I strive to do the best I can. That's all I can expect from anyone no matter where they are in life. I learn something new everyday...mostly about myself and my little corner of reality. Life, to me, is loving, learning and making memories. These are better than all the tangible riches one can get their hands on! Besides, there will come a day when all I have left is my love and memories...so I'll stockpile as much of those as I can!
Did you think I fell off the face of the earth??? Nope, still here.

I had a rare few moments tonight and thought I would try to write a little on here. Unfortunately for me my lack of time for this blog has really hindered my typing skills. I don't even have time to check my email anymore. That said, if you have emailed me, please forgive my serious delay in response. I am lucky if I even lay a hand on this computer once every two weeks. Even then it is simply for some sort of research necessary in that moment.

Needless to say, (and I know I have said it a million times on here) we have never been busier in our lives. We are all doing great though. Zach is still playing football and only has a couple more games. Paxton and Miranda have just finished their 2nd gymnastics meet. Paxton took 1st place in the all around at this last meet and is going to state. Miranda placed 8th and didn't quite get enough points to go to state finals, but she still has quite a few chances to score high enough. Gymnastics is a lot tougher in Colorado. I think we were spoiled in Florida and the girls have had to work alot harder here. It's all good though. Franki is still doing recreational gymnastics, but is entertaining the idea of a new sport. We'll see. Braji is still the extraordinary acheiver and we couldn't be more proud of her. If all goes well she will have her riding instructor for handicapped children certificate by the time we leave here. What a great opportunity this has been for our family. We really are blessed to have had the opportunity to live here in Colorado and to do the things we have since moving here.

We have had lots of company since we have been here and that has added to the hustle and bustle. We are as of now company free and slowly but surely trying to get some sort of schedule under control in order to simplify life a little, but I am not so sure that it is even possible. Seems like that is our never ending goal. For whatever reason though it remains just our of reach, guess that's par for the course when you have a larger sized family with lots of kids on the go.

We had a neat opportunity to go and see Senator John McCain speak the other day and that was fun and educational. We as a family have been very involved with following the presidential race. Very interesting stuff to learn and discuss with the children. It is nice to know how much the future means to them and to hear their thoughts on the different political parties' agendas.

Since I last wrote, we aquired (rescued) two more chickens and a new dog. So now we are a family of 5 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 3 horses and 8 chickens! I think that is sufficient and I certainly will boycott any further additions.

Our garden did really well after a rocky start and we were able to freeze a ton of fresh veggies to feed us this winter. We even had honeydew melons and ate one today...yummy! We had lettuce, squash, zuccini, tomatoes, beans, and two varieties of watermelon. I was pleased and we are still harvesting. We actually ended up with more than we know what to do with and will more than likely be donating some more.

We never seem to have a shortage of things to do around here and hence I am never on the computer. For those of you who read often before, I apologize for time shortcomings.

I hope, as usual, to make more time to get on here. I have some recipes that I had hoped to post. I will eventually get to them, but until then I hope that all is well with each and every one of you and yours. Goodnight!

Famous Quotes

"I am beginning to suspect all elaborate and special systems of education. They seem to me to be built upon the supposition that every child is a kind of idiot who must be taught to think. Whereas, if the child is left to himself, he will think more and better, if less showily. Let him go and come freely, let him touch real things and combine his impressions for himself, instead of sitting indoors at a little round table, while a sweet-voiced teacher suggests that he build a stone wall with his wooden blocks, or make a rainbow out of strips of coloured paper, or plant straw trees in bead flower-pots. Such teaching fills the mind with artificial associations that must be got rid of, before the child can develop independent ideas out of actual experience." -- Anne Sullivan
