Ramblings, Sentiments, Rantings and Musings

My photo
I am a mother of 5 wonderful children and wife to one amazing Navy man. I am always changing things in my life, constantly learning something new and trying it out. I am a wannabe vegan, minimalist and currently living full time in an RV. Just for clarification, I say wannabe, because I know I am not perfect, but each day I strive to do the best I can. That's all I can expect from anyone no matter where they are in life. I learn something new everyday...mostly about myself and my little corner of reality. Life, to me, is loving, learning and making memories. These are better than all the tangible riches one can get their hands on! Besides, there will come a day when all I have left is my love and memories...so I'll stockpile as much of those as I can!
Sunrise at the Beach and Afternoon Football at the Beach!

I thought I would share some of the spectacular photos that I took of yesterday's sunrise. After I dropped Justin off at work, I gathered the children up and we headed for the beach. It was wonderful to be out so early as we are usually late sleepers in our house. We walked and looked for shells and we walked some more:) The children found some amazing shells and sea creatures and some shells that were home to some sea creatures! I will share some photos of all we saw in another post in order to keep this one from being to lengthy:)

I was amazed at the beauty I witnessed yesterday. The sunrise was breathtaking with lots of silver and yellow lining the clouds that were directly in front of the emerging sun. The photos I took don't do it near the justice it deserves. The weather was cool and the breeze was gentle. The air smelled of the salty morning mist that was lingering on the shore. The sun was just barely beginning to peak out from the curtain of clouds and the children were peaceful and calm. I had figured on having some issues with grumpiness that normally occurs in my house when the littles have to rise to early, but alas not on this morning. It was pure bliss!

After rescuing Justin from work, we headed off to the beach again. The weather didn't look very promising, but you know the weather is never predictable so we lugged a few chairs, some bottled water, a couple of towels and a football of course. We had a great time. It didn't last much longer than an hour, but what an hour it was! There was football, gymnastics and a little bit of lounging...and then the blackened sky crept up on us and we packed it in and made a mad dash to the car. I should say that we considered staying, because the first bit of rain was light despite the dark sky, but suddenly it cut loose and there was lightning and that settled that. I don't do lightning for sure...I have an unnaturally heightened sense of fear bordering terror of lightning. Hmmm...I am not sure where that comes from, but it definitely there!!!

Famous Quotes

"I am beginning to suspect all elaborate and special systems of education. They seem to me to be built upon the supposition that every child is a kind of idiot who must be taught to think. Whereas, if the child is left to himself, he will think more and better, if less showily. Let him go and come freely, let him touch real things and combine his impressions for himself, instead of sitting indoors at a little round table, while a sweet-voiced teacher suggests that he build a stone wall with his wooden blocks, or make a rainbow out of strips of coloured paper, or plant straw trees in bead flower-pots. Such teaching fills the mind with artificial associations that must be got rid of, before the child can develop independent ideas out of actual experience." -- Anne Sullivan
