We have finally arrived
It has been a mind bending and heart stopping few days. The first day was a little slow going due to Jud getting a feel for towing such a large camper. Once he got it figured out we were off and running, or so we thought! No sooner than we were moving along we ran smack into the devastating winter storm that hit the midwest. We thought we could keep on going since we were on a main highway, however that didn't happen either so we stopped for the night. The next morning we tried to get on the road again. We made it about 20 miles and what a most terrifying 20 miles it was.
Our camper started sliding all over the road and though Jud recovered well each time it was still a good warning for us to get right back off the road. So we found another camp ground very quickly and pulled in there for the remainder of the day. Then yesterday the roads were finally okay to drive on again. We saw so many scary crashes, some that I could not imagine someone could survive. Seeing these accidents made us doubly scared and thankful at the same time for our safety. Last night we finally made our destination.
It would take to long to write all of our mishaps on the way here, but I will say that the last issue we have experienced on this little trip of ours was that the water pipes under the camper are frozen so now we have no water...ugghh! But at last we are here safe and sound. Ahh the snow is so beautiful. We haven't had real snow in our lives in almost 7 years. So needless to say the kids are thrilled as are Jud and I.
It's funny how fast you forget the hardships of the trip once you see the beautiful destination. we were a little diasppointed with the size of the city as it is much larger than we had imagined and hoped it would be. It's funny how your minds eye will lead you astray, or at least that is exactly what ours did. In truth though just about anyplace was better than where we live now. Reminder to self: Never buy a house in 3 days!!!
Well I am off to figure out how people rough it with only three, oh make that 3 1/2 gallons of water from a jug. I hope that my poor family will forgive me for my lack of skill in this area. One more life lesson for me. I wonder how creative I will have to be to make this happen???
We'll see!

Ramblings, Sentiments, Rantings and Musings

- Dana
- I am a mother of 5 wonderful children and wife to one amazing Navy man. I am always changing things in my life, constantly learning something new and trying it out. I am a wannabe vegan, minimalist and currently living full time in an RV. Just for clarification, I say wannabe, because I know I am not perfect, but each day I strive to do the best I can. That's all I can expect from anyone no matter where they are in life. I learn something new everyday...mostly about myself and my little corner of reality. Life, to me, is loving, learning and making memories. These are better than all the tangible riches one can get their hands on! Besides, there will come a day when all I have left is my love and memories...so I'll stockpile as much of those as I can!
Famous Quotes
"I am beginning to suspect all elaborate and special systems of education. They seem to me to be built upon the supposition that every child is a kind of idiot who must be taught to think. Whereas, if the child is left to himself, he will think more and better, if less showily. Let him go and come freely, let him touch real things and combine his impressions for himself, instead of sitting indoors at a little round table, while a sweet-voiced teacher suggests that he build a stone wall with his wooden blocks, or make a rainbow out of strips of coloured paper, or plant straw trees in bead flower-pots. Such teaching fills the mind with artificial associations that must be got rid of, before the child can develop independent ideas out of actual experience." -- Anne Sullivan
